Technical Illustration

Clifford Thames Asia Pacific has the ability to create its own illustrations for use with the parts catalogues. It separates the illustrations into two distinct area’s.

‘Rough Art’ – This is where the illustrators compile all the relevant data to create an illustration. The data comes from a variety of sources, it may be 3D CAD or 2D Drawings, also input is provided from engineering drawings or information can be obtained from the product development engineers.

Once all the relevant data is compiled the analyst will use all the data to construct a single illustration in isometric view. The illustration will then be sent together with any required instructions to a technical illustrator who will create the finished product which is called ‘fine art’.

Once this process has been finished the illustration is ready for inclusion into the parts catalogue. Every illustration which is created or amended goes through this process and is rigorously checked for quality.
